It’s not only people that are talkative on the net. Smart devices are revolutionizing our interactions with our environment and our bodies, eliciting and communicating massive amounts of locally generated data about the world and ourselves. Come and join the conversation! Innovation Labs invites teams for two main IoT directions:

  1. User centered devices are a strong trend in customer-driven technology, including: health and activity monitoring devices, smart beacons, weather and pollution sensors, educational development boards, or smart home appliances;

  2. Machine-to-machine enhancements seek to create a sensor and communication infrastructure to offer powerful data-driven insights based on smart devices.

Opportunity?

In collaboration with Orange Innovation Labs offers the opportunity of crowd feedback, validation of ideas and most importantly the possibility of enriching your idea thanks to a global community. The crowdsourcing platform Imagine with Orange is available to everybody and you can sign in(hyperlink la pagina de inregistrare a Imagine with Orange) here to share and evaluate your project.

Build your M2M or smart home application leveraging Orange 2G/3G/4G mobile network facilities and Orange M2M Control Platform capabilities. Ask for specific Orange IoT startup development kit including M2M dedicated SIM cards with complimentary data traffic and you will get also your own account for accessing Orange M2M Control platform and fine tune your application. For more details, please visit http://www.orange.ro/m2m/platforma-m2m-control/ . The most interested proposals can be introduced as proof of concepts within the Orange ecosystem.

There is an abundance of emerging technologies that offer low-cost and user-friendly development platforms, powerful yet small smart boards and sensors, alternative communication channels, options for cloud communication and storage.

The iBeacons, a new class of low-powered, low-cost transmitters that can notify nearby mobile devices, offer a great array of opportunities. Take your ideas to the next level with the devkits / SDKs and guides offered by Onyx Beacon (register first and download your documents) and Orange. You can create smart devices easier than ever.

Challenge?

To find a place for your smart device on users’ wrists or desks, among other places, you should identify specific use cases, understanding potential users’ current practices and preferences. You will then develop a set of apps and solutions to gather and visualize data, bringing users meaningful added value.

You should also consider choosing and fine-tuning a business model that encourages users to try the product, while also creating a sustainable cash-flow – such as freeware with built-in commercials, in-app purchasing, subscription-based, or pay on purchase.

About the project

Usually programming embedded devices requires installing specific software. Using Wyliodrin makes it easier. All you need is a computer, a browser and an Internet connection. Sign up on Wyliodrin and start programming your boards. You can even use a public computer, as you do not need to install anything on it.
PillBuzz

PillBuzz

About the project

A bracelet which helps people manage their medical treatments. The bracelet vibrates and/or emits sounds when we need to take our pills. The bracelet is set using a mobile app (currently only available on Android) and then it functions independently. The two devices only need to be connected over Bluetooth when the treatment plan is updated.
Exhale

About the project

Have you ever woke up after a late night party fearing you will not be fit to drive to work? Our study has shown that over 30% of drivers admitted driving under the influence. The answer to this problem is Exhale, our smartphone breathalyzer.
